Eve Air Mobility, the Embraer-controlled company developing electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, said it has completed 50 test flights with its engineering prototype since the model’s first flight in December 2025.

The company said the campaign has now logged more than two hours in the air, marking a new step in a program that Brazil hopes will place it among the leading players in the emerging urban air mobility market.

Eve described the milestone as evidence that the aircraft is advancing beyond an early demonstration phase. Johann Bordais, the company’s chief executive, said the 50-flight mark showed the program’s growing maturity.

The tests have gradually expanded in scope. According to the company, recent flights included higher cruise speeds and evaluations of energy management, controllability, stability, noise and vibration, all central issues for an aircraft that must eventually satisfy regulators and commercial operators.

The next major step is certification. Eve said it plans to begin producing six so-called conformity prototypes later this year. Those aircraft will be used in the certification campaign before Anac, Brazil’s civil aviation regulator. Approval from the agency is required before the aircraft can enter service.

The company manufactures its eVTOL aircraft in Taubaté, in São Paulo state, at a facility with annual capacity of up to 480 units, according to the report. Eve has said commercial operations are expected to begin in 2027, though that timeline depends on certification and the broader build-out of the supporting ecosystem, including air traffic management, charging infrastructure and operator readiness.

Eve’s aircraft is often described in Brazil as a “flying car,” but technically it is an eVTOL, an aircraft designed to take off and land vertically like a helicopter while aiming for lower operating costs and quieter flights on short urban routes.

The company also offered an ambitious long-term market outlook, projecting that the global eVTOL fleet could reach 30,000 aircraft by 2045 and carry more than 3 billion passengers over that period. Those forecasts reflect broad industry expectations for a new category of short-distance air transport, though the sector remains largely pre-commercial worldwide.
