Brazil's Federal District will elect two senators in the 2026 general elections, with 2.56 million eligible voters spread across 21 voting zones, according to data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Voters must choose two different candidates; selecting the same person twice annuls the second vote.
The race features 13 registered contenders. Among them are former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL), incumbent senator Leila do Vôlei (PDT), federal deputy Erika Kokay (PT), and congresswoman Bia Kicis (PL). Other candidates include economist Guto Felício dos Santos (PSDB), lawyer Ronaldo Fonseca (PSD), magistrate Sebastião Coelho (Novo), and several representatives from smaller parties such as Avante, UP, Agir and PSTU.
A recent Quaest poll cited by CNN Brasil shows Michelle Bolsonaro with 25 percent support, Leila do Vôlei at 17 percent and Erika Kokay at 12 percent. Another Quaest survey indicates Leila do Vôlei leads in scenarios for both the first and second rounds.
Nationally, two-thirds of the 81-seat Senate — 54 seats — are up for renewal in 2026, each for an eight‑year term. The first round of voting is scheduled for October 4, with a potential runoff on October 25.
