Lula Campaign Uses Bolsonaro Sexist Remarks in TV Ad Targeting Women Voters

Lula's campaign has deployed a television advertisement that replays sexist remarks by former president Jair Bolsonaro and his son Flávio to appeal to women voters ahead of the 2026 election.

The ad opens with a pregnant woman undergoing an ultrasound and learning she will have a girl, her expression turning concerned. It then cuts to archival footage of Jair Bolsonaro telling PT congresswoman Maria do Rosario that he would never rape her because "you don't deserve it" and calling her a "vagabunda".

Further footage shows Bolsonaro commenting about a journalist who "wanted to get the scoop" and claiming that, after having four sons, he experienced a "weakness" that resulted in a daughter.

The advertisement also features a 2023 clip of Flávio Bolsonaro in sunga imitating his younger brother Jair Renan, saying "Sou filho do presidente, quer me dar?" (Portuguese for "I am the president's son, want to have me?").

A voiceover narration concludes that it is frightening to raise a daughter in such an environment, while on‑screen text asks "Que país você quer para suas filhas?" (What kind of country do you want for your daughters?).

Lula's campaign plans to air the advertisement repeatedly during TV programming as part of its electoral outreach.
