The Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) chapter in Piauí declared support for Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Liberal Party-RJ) in the presidential runoff against incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Workers' Party-PT). State party president Jorge Lopes announced the decision at a press conference, urging a united opposition front to expand Bolsonaro's vote share in the northeastern state.

"It is important to unite forces in this second round," Lopes said. He added that the position was reached after talks with representatives of the Liberal Party (PL), Novo, Podemos, and Christian Democracy (Democracia Cristã). The coordination aims to organize a common campaign agenda to reduce Lula's voting margin in Piauí.

Lopes also cited Progressistas (PP) and União Brasil among opposition forces aligned with Bolsonaro's candidacy. The endorsement comes during a reorganization of the PSDB in the state. The party's gubernatorial candidate under the PSDB/Cidadania federation, Dra. Lúcia Santos, also declared support for the senator after the first round.

Nationally, the PSDB decided on October 8 to release its members to choose between the presidential contenders. In a statement, the national leadership said most state directories were split between neutrality and support for Flávio Bolsonaro, while a minority backed President Lula. Piauí's decision marks a departure from that neutrality.
